Thomas E. Moomjy is New Jersey native, and after many a wayward travel, he returned to reside in his birthplace, New Brunswick. Some might call a Moomjy a “townie” despite being a Rutgers alumnus several times over. His art and research focus on the ways older analog forms are repurposed via new digital ones, and he peppers his lectures with historical anecdotes about Rutgers and New Jersey more generally.

Moomjy is deeply involved in union advocacy for contingent faculty having served on the executive boards here at Rutgers and at Raritan Valley Community College where he also teaches for RISE and NJ-STEP—the programs that provide college courses for inmates in New Jersey Correctional Facilities.

In addition to teaching, Moomjy is an active musician and artist where he practices his true love, blues music. He is currently working on an art installation that turns found objects into sculptures with musical accompaniments. He can be contacted at This email address is being protected from spambots.
